Since I'm still tapering and not doing much running I've got all the extra time to think about my race and life in general. I came across this quote and it really hit me. While training for this race I had many Saturdays out on the road for 5, 6, 7 or more hours at a time. During that time there was plenty of time to think about running, and other stuff. I'm getting ready to run a 100 mile race and there is still so much I don't know about running. I guess it is true, the more we grow as people the more we realize that we actually don't know that much.
"We had done this thing we had set out to do, and instead of becoming
larger because of the experience, we became smaller, more humble more
aware of how little we know: about the world in general, about ourselves specifically."
- Richard Benyo in "The Death Valley 300."
Keep on running!

Great Quote and so true. Can't wait to hear your race report. Amazing what you have done.
dude...I have come to understand that quote better now after running ultras than ever before...Ultras have helped make me a "there you are person" instead of "here I am"...and that is a very cool thing. It's a paradox...this sport can be very selfish in training time, etc...but has made me less selfish in life....
