My Garmin Forerunner 305 finally died this past week and so it was time to get a new GPS watch. I went with the 405 w/o the heart rate monitor. I got to where I never wore the heart rate monitor with my 305 so I figured I didn't need the option with my new one. Besides I think I have run enough and know my body well enough to feel where I am with regards to different zones. I had my 305 for about 4 years and it was great know how far I had run, what my pace was at any moment and being able to log all those runs. I'm not sure I would be able to train not having that information on my wrist. I do like the fact that it looks more like a real watch and has the time available. I probably won't wear it except during training runs, but it will be nice to have if I need to go straight from a run to another function without changing watches.
