Suck It Up

Today was one of those days. It was cold (38 degrees) and raining with no end in sight. I knew I needed to get my last long run in today but I just wasn't feeling it so I slept in for a little while, but then got out of bed to get down to business. It funny but one of my bloggy friends Clea wrote about the suck it up run a while back and so I knew that I needed to just get out there and get it done.

I started off and felt pretty good at first. It's funny but some of my most memorable runs I remember in the past have always been run in cold and rainy conditions. I just love it when rain is light and there is no breeze what so ever, you can see every breath you take as it trails slowly behind you. It was one of those days.

I run 10 mile loops around my neighborhood and the first loop went by fairly quickly. At about mile 15 on the second loop the rain started to get a little heavier and I was getting soaked and hit a little low time. Thank goodness I was able to get a few freshly baked blueberry muffins at the house after loop 2 and it help get my energy back up. Loop 3 started off slowly but I felt really good at the end and finished off with a couple of sub 9:30 miles for the last 2.

Now it's time to start decreasing the mileage and get ready for Rocky. Only 3 weeks to go!!
