It's the time of year when my running goes down the tubes. I've run the White Rock marathon in December the last 4 years and have run either the 50 or 100 miler at Rocky Raccoon in early February and just finished running at Cowtown for the 3rd straight year. For the last 3 years I've stopped running and taken rested for a while before getting going again. Last year for example I think I averaged about 40 miles a month from March through August and then start ramping back up in the fall.
This year will be different as I want to keep the fire lit and keep my running fitness through the spring and summer months. To keep me motivated I've got a few races that I'll do. I'm looking at the Big D marathon in April, El Scorcho in July and hopefully some of the Capt Karls races this summer as well. The goal is to have my endurance last through the summer and then do some longer 50k's and 50 milers in the fall. Would love to do Palo Duro in October and either Cactus Rose or Wild Hare too.
So with that I was able to get in 26 miles this week and ran 13.6 this weekend one week after Cowtown. The legs feel good and I've even started lifting weights to help me become a stronger runner. We shall see what the benefits will be later in the year.

That's a good schedule you got there. That'll keep you fit.
Way to keep motivated!!! Nice race schedule.
Hey! So I found you on the Tall Mom spreadsheet because I saw the words "Burleson, TX" written across your sheet and was amazed! I'm flying into Burleson (well, DFW) but my dad lives in Burleson and I'm headed down there for the week! Thought I'd drop by and say hello! Congrats on the Cowtown PR!
Congrats on Cowtown!! And good luck with the weight training!
