Making the Call

I've made a decision on my fall racing schedule and my attempt at 100 miles will not be happening. At one point I felt I needed to run the event to be considered a "Real" ultra runner, but now I really don't care. I'm comfortable knowing that I can run a marathon just about anytime I want to, and feel that trail 50k's are really fun events. If I want to spend a little extra time training, a 50 miler might be tempting, but for right now I'm just going to enjoy running and see which marathons fit into my fall and winter calendar.

I've also got several kids playing sports and I want to make sure I make it to their games and support them whenever they play. Family is still my number one priority, so running will be my hobby, just like it should be. If you are running some events in the Texas area let me know, maybe I can fit it into my new schedule of events. I have some blogging buddies that I think are running the San Antonio marathon, so I might have to join them, I've got 4 months to train and have a pretty good base right now.

El Scorcho Cin5o

Finished another El Scorcho and set a new PR for this event. This was my very first Ultra back in 08 and I'd forgotten how tough it is to start a run at midnight when it's still over 90 degrees outside.

Time to Fly

Got me some new running shoes today but won't wear them this weekend.

I'm still in training mode and getting my runs in when I can. This weekend I'm running the 50k at El Scorcho in Fort Worth and will really jump start the longer runs. Looks like it will be a hot one though.

Still on schedule to run the Pumpkin Holler Hundred in October so this race will see how I'm doing 3 months out.

PS, also got a new tattoo as well!
